The tech division of one of the nation’s largest health insurance companies had big plans to launch a content-driven mobile app to improve patient health outcomes post-hospital stay. The internal team had the clinical expertise, but tasked Rock Top Media with elevating the app’s content to ensure better engagement, accessibility, and information flow for end users. Working directly with internal clinicians, project managers, and the chief content officer, our team wrote and edited 250-plus content pieces, which form the backbone of the new consumer app.

Content-Driven Website Launch

A new start-up focused on end-of-life planning needed an editorial team to populate its site with deeply reported guides, how-tos, and explainers for readers. We produced 80 articles each month during the three-month pre-launch period, setting the editorial tone and helping to optimize for SEO. To get it all done on a fast-paced timeline, we reached out to our extensive writer network, editing internally for consistency and brand before sending the deliverables to the content manager. The site exceeded initial goals— and within a year, the startup had been successfully acquired.

Product Pages & Datasheets

A global cybersecurity firm asked us to overhaul 12 existing product pages in less than three weeks. We combed through existing content collateral, site wireframes and competitor offerings. We then interviewed internal product managers and international subject matter experts, before writing the highly technical product pages and accompanying datasheets. The client was thrilled with the final results, eventually expanding our relationship to include ongoing case studies, blog posts and white papers.

Print publication rollout

When a managed-care organization decided to launch a thought leadership magazine for healthcare leaders, the organization’s creative agency came to us for high-level content that would set the magazine up for success. Through close collaboration with the creative agency, we helped to establish the editorial calendar for the inaugural issue, then executed the majority of the long-form articles. We conducted extensive research and in-depth interviews across a variety of healthcare topics, from health informatics to new trends in revenue cycle management to maternal healthcare deserts.

Magazine Editorial Management

We supplemented a creative agency’s existing staff resources, overseeing the day-to-day management of a monthly print magazine for an association client on a long-term basis. Editorial management included story ideation—both news-driven trend stories and long-form features—as well as making assignments, editing copy, proofreading editorial layouts, and coordinating with internal editors, designers and print production managers. In an association survey, two-thirds of members reported that they were avid readers of the magazine.
